20th Anniversary R1s

Since appearing in 1998 under the slogan of the “Fastest on Twisty Roads,” the YZF-R1 has undergone numerous changes over the years and received a full redesign for the 8th-generation model in 2015. Aimed at being the “Fastest on the Racetrack”, this model displayed its prowess in production race series around the world and reasserted the R1’s leading presence in two-wheeled motorsport.

The YZF-R1 celebrates its 20th anniversary this 2018 season and to commemorate this, select R1s racing in various series around the world are adorned with the 1st-generation model’s “YZF” and “R1” logos as well as a special livery paying homage to its debut in 1998. This will help communicate to supersport motorcycle enthusiasts and motorsports fans worldwide the R1’s special heritage and its Fastest on the Racetrack positioning.
