Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Students Raring to Start 10th Edition

Five new protégées, all up-and-coming riders currently competing in Yamaha Motor Europe's 2022 Yamaha R3 bLU cRU European Cup, have travelled to Cattolica to take part in the tenth edition of the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp training programme, held this week from 4-8 May.

The Yamaha VR46 Master Camp training programme is set up by nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi, VR46 Riders Academy, and Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.

The new Master Camp students include Jurand Kusmierczyk (aged 17, from Poland), Devis Bergamini (aged 19, from Italy), Yeray Ruiz (aged 18, from Spain), Enzo Valentim Garcia (aged 17, from Brazil), and Kevin Fontainha (aged 15, also from Brazil).

The racing experts, VR46 Academy riders, and 2022 MotoGP eSport Champion Lorenzo Daretti will monitor the Master Camp trainees' progress during various training and racing activities. Its schedule includes: MiniGP, road racing (made possible by Yamalube, Akrapovič, and Pirelli), MotoGP eSport (made possible by MSI Gaming), and flat track riding and soft cross (made possible by Oakley, Alpinestars, and VR46) at the VR46 Motor Ranch.

On Day 0 of the Master Camp, the five riders completed a physical check which they all passed with flying colours, allowing them to officially take part in this illustrious training programme.

Those eager to know more and curious about the goings on at the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp can easily stay up to date. News, images, and videos from the event will be posted regularly on its dedicated media channels throughout the tenth edition:

JURAND KUSMIERCZYK

At first, I was pretty surprised that I got chosen to take part in the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp, but then, when the realisation set in, I was very happy to get the opportunity to get to meet the VR46 Academy riders, Valentino Rossi himself, and all the professionals from around the VR46 franchise. I think this is a great opportunity for me to develop as a rider. I'm looking forward to the entire experience. Even the pre-programme photoshoots were pretty special. I'm looking forward to the rest of the week when we're going to run on the flat track, do some training on big bikes, and small bikes - I'm looking forward to pretty much everything!

DEVIS BERGAMINI

When they gave us the news and they said my name, I was very happy because we will be training with the riders of the VR46 Riders Academy and meet Valentino Rossi too. It's an opportunity that we must use to the fullest. I'm very happy to start this adventure. I really like that we're doing a few flat track sessions, and I'm also looking forward to training with the VR46 riders in the gym and on track.

YERAY RUIZ

My reaction was that I was in shock, but I'm very excited to have been given this opportunity. This will be a great experience for me. I'm particularly looking forward to riding at the VR46 Motor Ranch, and I also really like MiniGP, so I expect that will also be a good training session for me.

ENZO VALENTIM GARCIA

I was selected after the Aragon race to go to the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp. At first I couldn't believe it when they called my rider number. I was trying to process what was happening, and then I really realised that I was going to come here. I'm really grateful! I was lucky that I was selected at the time, but now I'm the championship leader, so I believe I have earned my place here. I'm looking forward to meeting the VR46 Academy riders, having the opportunity to talk with them, and learn new skills. In Brazil we can't train on flat track, and I'm not used to training on dirt bikes like soft cross, so it will be a good learning opportunity. I'm really excited to learn new skills from the professionals.

KEVIN FONTAINHA

'm very happy to have this opportunity. I'm so grateful to Yamaha as well as VR46 and Valentino Rossi that they have prepared this programme for us. This is the best learning experience we could ask for: we are surrounded by professionals ready to help us and teach us. I'm so happy to be here, and to get to visit Valentino's flat track will be an amazing experience that I will never forget. I'm so happy!
