8 Hours Free Practice: YART 5th

Just one hour and twenty minutes after the morning session finished, bikes were already back on track for the second session of the day, a two-hour Free Practice. The Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team's Marvin Fritz was out first to start the session. He was smooth and consistent early on, setting times in the 2'07s.

He followed that up with 10 laps in the 2'08 and 2'09 range, before a brief return to the pits and another exit for a second run. In it, he stayed consistent in the '08s for another 15 laps. His fastest time was 2'07.736, and he finished his run in third overall.

Taking over for Fritz was teammate Niccolò Canepa, who only rode for six laps but was able to consistently set times in the 2'08s. After that it was time for Karel Hanika to ride, and he too was consistently in the '08s after also finishing six laps. Fritz then did a second run on the team's spare YZF-R1, where he rode six laps in the '09s before turning to the pits. At the end of the session, YART was 5th overall.

Team IRF with AZURLANE worked on finding the best tires for the afternoon's qualifying sessions. Their quickest time was a 2'13.440 for 39th.
